Radial shaft seals are installed in the motor housing with a tight fit and seal reliably with their sealing lip. The sealing lip usually runs on the rotating shaft and is pressed onto the shaft surface with a worm spring inserted in the shaft sealing ring. Of course, these are also subject to wear and tear and become brittle and leak after a long time (or even a long standstill). If the engine rotates enormously high in the standing gas and cannot be adjusted, this can also be a sign of leaky sealing rings (wrong air). If petrol components are found in the transmission oil, the clutch side shaft seal is usually defective in classic Vespa scooters. Our sealing ring sets are made of different materials depending on the manufacturer. Blue and black sealing rings are mostly made of synthetic rubber (NBR) and thus meet today's automotive standards. The brown sealing rings are made of fluorine elastomer (FKM), are more temperature stable and have a slightly higher abrasion and oil resistance. Some Vespa vintage car models have shaft seals with different cut-outs on the alternator or clutch side seat. The round or square recess for flushing the bearings with mixture is very important, otherwise the bearings would not be rinsed. What shape you install on your oldie engine does not matter as both fit in and allow the desired effect! ...
